SOCIAL STUDIES
The United States is on the continent of North America. A continent is a large body of land.
There are 50 states. United means "together". The name of this country, The United State, means 50 states together. Forty-eight states are in the part of the country that lies between Canada and Mexico. Each state touches at least one other state.
REGIONS OF THE UNITED STATES
The United States is a very large country. In fact, it's the fourth-largest country in the world. This nation stretches 2,807 miles from the East Coast to the West Coast. And then there are Alaska and Hawaii, too! How ca you study something so big?
One way to study this big nation is to divide it into areas called regions. The United States can be divided into six different regions:

2. How many states are there in the United States?
3. What are the names of the regions in the United States?
